Club Nacional de Football has appointed Jadson Viera as its new coach. The Brazilian coach replaces Pablo Peirano and signs a contract until December 2027. Viera, a 44-year-old professional, left Boston River, where he had been since last season, to take over the reins at Nacional. A native of Santana do Livramento, Viera spent most of his playing career in Uruguay. He was born at Danubio, played as a center-back for Vasco da Gama in Brazil between 2010 and 2011, and also played for Nacional. After retiring in 2017, Viera began his coaching career as an assistant to Alexander "Cacique" Medina. He worked at Nacional and Talleres before returning to Brazil to coach Internacional in 2022. Viera was an assistant coach at Internacional in 2022. After working with Cacique at Vélez Sarsfield, Viera started his career as a head coach in 2024 at Boston River. In the last Uruguayan championship, he achieved the third-best overall performance and qualified for the 2025 Libertadores preliminary phase, eliminated by Bahia. – I'm at Nacional, I have everything to win. Nacional is that. I could have let it pass, but last night (Monday) when I had the opportunity, I already decided. I thank Boston River for everything it gave me, because it opened doors for me – Viera said during his presentation on Tuesday. Viera left Boston River in fourth place in the Clausura tournament in Uruguay, with 24 points, one less than his new club, Nacional, which is vice-leader. Peñarol leads with 29 points, with two rounds remaining.
